Hello
My name is Deonte! I'm a videographer/filmmaker based in the Northern region of South Carolina. I'm a husband of four years and father of a son (3 years old) and a little girl (1 year old). I love Jesus, longboarding, billiards, and brunch. I'm a creative at heart so I love having my hands in different things and having several creative expressions. Storytelling is really what all of my passions boil down to. And I want to give you space to be seen, heard, and felt through the art of storytelling. For me it's less about flashy cool effects and more about creating a connection that goes beyond the lens to the hearts of people.
My Story
I was born in Louisiana into a military family. My father, my mother, my older brother, and myself all served in the Army. But I decided that just wasn't the life for me. I've always been creatively inclined. My journey as a creative started when I was 4 years old. My parents had the broadway version of Peter Pan on VHS and I would pop it in almost every night and perform the entire musical by myself. Then in elementary school I started writing and drawing my own comics. Things developed even more when I got to high school and started producing and making beats. In my sophomore year I fell in love with Musical Theatre all over again, which is what I would go on to Winthrop University to get my bachelor's degree in. While at college, I also developed a love for creative writing and spoken word. I would even perform at open mic nights and poetry slams in the community. All of this lead to me being on Youtube one day and seeing the vlogs and short films that people were creating. I said to myself, "I think I can do that." And as they say, the rest was history.
I started my videography business on November 13th, 2019. This also just so happened to be my son's first birthday. Fun fact, me and my wife weren't supposed to be able to have children. So it felt significant for me to start my business on my son's first birthday as a reminder that God can do the impossible. At the time I felt like in order for this business to truly be successful He would have to do just that because I had no idea what I was doing. I would show up to my shoots with my iPhoneXSMax and a cheap gimbal that I had found online. I was just trying to work what I had. And now here I am two years later with a professional camera set up and a lot of experiences under my belt.
While this business still has a ways to grow, I'm so thankful for all connections and experiences I've had along the way. This journey for me has not just been about making sure I create quality content for people, but it genuinely has introduced me to different perspectives and ways of thinking that have ultimately made me a better person today. I believe at it's core that's just what art does. It brings all types of people together to listen, learn, and experience something that they've never experienced before. And that's what I hope to create with you! So let's get this work!
